Using their training in the art of visual perception, our forensic animators work with clients to choose whether jurors will view the accident reconstruction from the point of view (perspective) of the driver, from an overhead view, or another position to best convey the story in the trial.

Courtroom Animations are being used in all types of cases to simplify complex scientific processes, such as the development of sinkholes, accident reconstruction, or even toxic tort contamination. Legal animations of medical problems or procedures are incredibly useful in court as they are less invasive than video, able to illustrate hidden processes, and retain juror attention.

Forensic animations are not only educational and visually stunning to the jury, the computer-generated simulations can influence the verdict in the courtroom. In a study conducted by Kassin and Dunn (1997), mock jurors were presented with an unbiased animation of a man falling to his death or an animation supporting the plaintiff’s theory (of an accidental death due to a slip-and-fall) that was in contrast to the physical evidence.

When asked to provide a verdict supporting the plaintiff, the estate of the deceased, or the defense, an insurance carrier, the mock jurors who viewed the court animation were more likely to provide verdicts favoring the plaintiff, despite the evidence. This research displays the powerful impact animations have on jurors.
